UAE-based conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) has handed over possession of units at its City Centre Almaza Mall to tenants in anticipation of a September 30th opening. Located in the Cairo suburb of Heliopolis, this mall, which has a gross leasable area (GLA) of 103,000m2, includes a 13,040m2 Carrefour hypermarket, a Magic Planet entertainment centre, and a 16-screen multiplex cinema. Other brands due to open outlets in the mall include Dsquared2, Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani, H&M, Hamleys, Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Ego.
Almaza will be the sixth-largest mall in Cairo (and Egypt as a whole). Once it is opened, the total GLA of Egyptian malls will increase by almost 15%, to around 813,000m2. In 2009, this figure stood at a mere 109,350m2.
