Sagaci Research has just published the sixth edition of its Shopping Malls in Africa report. It shows that the number of malls on the continent more than doubled between 2010 and 2018, with urbanisation, population growth, increased interest from international retailers, changing consumer lifestyles and rising household incomes among the main factors driving this growth. There are now 579 malls on the continent, up from 225 in 2010.
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of malls across the continent (excluding South Africa). It includes:
- An examination of the economic, social, political, demographic factors shaping the market
- An assessment of mall GLA (gross leasable area) by country and region
- Forecast GLA, based on projects in development
- A rating system that grades malls into six tiers (AAA, AA, A, B, C and D, in descending order) based on multiple criteria
- 12 months of access to Sagaci Research’s African Mall Database
