During mid-September, Moroccan retailer Yan&One opened its fourth outlet and its second in Casablanca. The store stocks around 170 brands, 70 of which are private label, developed by “the biggest European laboratories in Switzerland and in France,” according to the retailer.
Yan&One is geared towards experiential consumption, as it includes a hair salon, a nail bar, and a make-up station. It was decorated by Placebo Studio, a collective of young Moroccan street artists, in an effort to give it a “New York” vibe, according to the retailer.
Founded by Salwa Idriss Akhannouch, Yan&One opened its first store, which occupies 3,000m² in Casablanca’s Morocco Mall, during October 2017. Also the CEO of Groupe Askal, which operates department stores and shopping malls (including Morocco Mall) and franchises a host of international fashion brands, Akhannouch is one of the most high-profile businesswomen in North African. She is married to billionaire businessman and politician Aziz Akhannouch, who is currently Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture.
